1. Does the VA practice AMSECT best standards such as N+1? We have one perfusionist on site for each case and another available in the city to come in if needed. But not N+1.

1. Consistent with common practice nationally in the perfusion field, would the VAMC allow contractor to provide a transitional bridge team until the permanent team is onboarded? Yes

What is the estimated number of cases annually per case type (e.g. Coronary Artery Bypass, Aortic Valve Replacement, Valve Replacement, Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Autotransfusion, Balloon Pump, Platelet Rich Plasma harvesting (PRP), Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), placement of an Impella, and other duties normally performed within the scope of a Cardiac Perfusionist)? 50 cases
1. For ECMO, how many cases are started at the VAMC? How many ECMO hours on average are monitored at the VAMC? How many ECMO patients are transported to other facilities? Will the perfusionist be required to transport? Average less than one/year. All transferred to another facility.
1. Please confirm how many cases annually require the contractor to provide autotransfusion independent of other open heart procedure? What about IABP? Other? None

Please clarify expectations regarding: “Perfusionist will train nurses to set up and operates autotransfusion pump for other surgical procedures and help with troubleshooting.” Is the expectation that contractor will fully train nurses to perform the autotransfusion independent of open heart procedures? Normally equipment training would be performed by the manufacturer. Autotransfusion done by Anesthesia outside open heart procedures. Initial in service was provided by perfusion w/troubleshooting by phone as needed.
1. Will the contractor provide disposable supplies? If so, please provide additional information about the types needed so that supplies can be included in the RFP response. In house logistics
1. We understand that the VAMC will provide the capital equipment. Which models are in usage?
