Shawn Hendricks Contracting Officer Questions:
1. Currently, what sizes of reusable Red and Yellow bins or totes are being used for waste collection at the Lexington VAMC’s?
Answer: These weights are from both campuses and all CBOC’s combined.
The tote size is whatever size totes the contractor uses. We have totes that we collect in, then it is transferred to contractor totes for collection.
2. Please provide at least the past 3 years of historical weights and quantities of each of the different sizes of containers (28-gallon, 32-gallon, 43-gallon, 95-gallon, etc.) used for waste collection of:
Answer: The weights are as follows, FY-19-44,251, FY-20-38, 165, FY-21-projected weight-41, 256.
3. Please provide at least the past 3 years of historical weights and the size of reusable containers or boxes used at each of the 4 Lexington VAMC CBOC’s used for disposing their Regulated Medical Waste and disposable sharps containers?
Answer: The weights are as follows, FY-19-44,251, FY-20-38, 165, FY-21-projected weight-41, 256.
4. For clarification, does the VA own the totes used to collect the RMW in and transported to your bio-storage room? If they are contractor owned, are they the 95-gallon size (like the wheeled totes used for city garbage or recycling collection) and how many do you use throughout the medical centers?
Answer: The Station does their own 95 gal transfer totes. We have a total of 10 totes, but we only use 6 of them.
