The project objectives are as follows:
A. Replace existing 2500-amp paralleling switchgear with new sized to existing (4) generators capacity plus future expansions. Switchgear shall consist of generator control sections, distribution sections, and master control section.
B. Replace existing master control system with new PLC establishing ATS load shedding schemes.
C. Evaluate and replace Existing ATS’s past their life expectancy.
D. Extend building to accommodate additional switchgear.
E. Replace existing Power Logic System on existing generators for proper monitoring and load shedding.
F. Phase project to minimize disruption to Medical Center G. Provide options on one large sized switchgear versus equivalent (2) smaller sets for redundancy.
H. Address safety and security issues bringing the Emergency Power Feed into compliance with VA Physical Security and National Electric Code requirements.
III. JUSTIFICATION
A. Existing emergency 2500-amp paralleling switchgear is at maximum capacity during peak loads requiring load shedding to maintain emergency power to facility.
B. Existing ATS’s are past life expectancy.
