About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document that clarifies requirements for Solicitation No. 36C24826Q0782, a commercial product acquisition under FAR Part 12 for automatic bi-fold sliding door assemblies with incidental installation services at the Malcolm Randall Veterans Medical Center (VAMC) Bed Tower. The solicitation does not require traditional construction management positions such as Superintendent, Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO), or Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Manager, nor does it incorporate wage determinations, past performance questionnaires, construction drawings, or statements of work. The Government's requirements are established in the Statement of Need rather than design documents.

Key operational requirements clarified in the Q&A include: the Contractor may work on a maximum of two door locations per floor concurrently while maintaining corridor access, and may work concurrently on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors with elevator and stairwell access maintained at all times. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. local time, excluding Federal holidays, with any outside hours requiring Contracting Officer and VA Facility approval. The Government will complete all required conduit and wiring to connection points approximately one week before door installation. The Contractor is responsible for installing transmitter and receiver components, performing functional testing, and final cleaning of the work area, while the Government retains responsibility for electrical infrastructure and access control integration. Temporary plastic wall panel systems are acceptable for work area protection. Fire-rating is not required for the door assembly. The solicitation closing date was extended from July 8, 2026, to July 15, 2026, at 4:00 PM Eastern Time.
