- System must monitor patient movement and notify users when patient exits the bed.
- System must display numerical heart rate, respiration rate and movement; and display graphical data of trends of these parameters.
- System must allow operator to adjust the settings of the Vital Sign threshold parameters.
- System must be able to notify the caregiver when heart or respiration rate averaged over time, passes above or below predefined limits.
- The system also must allow the healthcare practitioner to document the changes in the patient's position while in bed by recording the event into the System.
- The system must be able to verify the change in position and logs the information.
- The system must provide an option to notify the healthcare practitioner if a specific amount of time has passed since the nurse last changed the patient's position.
- The system must have an internal reachable battery that will allow approximately 30 minutes of operation while the unit is unplugged from the electrical outlet, or in case of power failure.
- System must be able to sense and report when a significant trend from observed baseline is detected in the following areas: High/Low HR, High/Low RR,, High/Low SpO2 (optional). If the HR and RR meet SIRS/qSOFA thresholds a multiparameter alert will activate. The system will also alert to Lost Patient Signal, Bed/Chair Exit, Patient Out of Bed/chair, Unstable Signal, Extremely High Motion, Patient Turn is OFF – Low Patient Movement at Nighttime, Patient Turn is OFF – Air Mattress Motion Detected, Turn Counter Exceeded, Technical Alert – indicates that there is a technical problem with the system:, Check Sensor (connection, position or location), No AC Power, Very Low Battery, System Malfunction, Sensor is about to Expire within x days, and Sensor Expired.
- System must allow for individual patient Alerts Setup including Setting Individual Alert Volume and Tone.
- System must have a Bed Exit Alert that can be set either to provide an immediate alert when the patient exits the bed or chair or to provide an alert when the patient has been out of bed for a period ranging from 5-30 minutes.
- Bed exit alert system must have a minimum of 6 levels of bed or chair exit sensitivity selectable by the care giver.
- The system must a Night Bed Exit mode. The Night Bed Exit mode feature will automatically enable the Bed Exit Alert for all patients who currently have the Bed Exit alert disabled – only for night time.
- The system must have Patient Turn alert will indicate that the counter has exceeded its time threshold. The alert message will disappear only by pressing a designated button on the bedside display.
- System must alert for both low and extremely high movement. An alert for low movement if detected must be displayed once a day at 6:00 AM (or, as predefined with the user).
- System must be capable of recording the following Events: Emerg. Med. – Emergency medication given when patient is in distress, CPAP/BPAP, Intubation, Patient Fall, Continuous Med. – routine medication, Pain Relief Med. – pain relief medication, Patient Agitation and Skin Breakdown.
- Trends must be displayed in a graphical format and be able to: current heart rate in beats per minute, current respiratory rate in breaths per minute, display heart rate in beats per minute (graph) during the time displayed, display respiration rate in breaths per minute (graph) during the time displayed, display alerts that occurred during the time displayed, show patients movement level while in bed during the timescale presented, show the time intervals patient spent in bed, show the time intervals patient spent in chair, and show the time intervals when patient has been out of bed.
