The architecture and interior design embody the highest level of environmental stewardship. All designs shall incorporate all electrical, mechanical, plumbing, structural, and architectural components necessary to provide for a complete structure and functioning building. Designs shall be in accordance with all applicable requirements of the NFPA, EPA, OSHA, National Plumbing Code, National Electric Code, ASHRAE, National Safety Code, VA Specifications, VA Standard Details, VA Construction Standards (match existing site materials), VA Space Planning Criteria PG-18-9, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Existing as-built drawings can be made available to the Contractor; however, their accuracy along with survey, subsurface information and data is not guaranteed and shall be completed and verified by the Contractor as part of the investigative services. This is a design/build construction project where the Contractor is to provide all labor, materials, tools and equipment, and design-build services. The space will comply with the latest VA design standards located in the Technical Information Library (TIL) (http://www.cfm.va.gov/TIL/). While the Master Specification located in the Technical Information Library (TIL) at CFM.gov is considered the standard, it is important for the successful offeror to note that VA Caribbean Healthcare System has more stringent specifications. It is the vendor’s responsibility to familiarize themselves with VA Caribbean Healthcare System specifications.

1. The purpose of this project is to obtain UL label certifications for at-risk buildings on campus. This project will correct deficiencies in the lightning protection systems for buildings which currently have protection. Lightning protection systems will also be added to buildings which have been identified through a risk assessment as needing this protection. The Contractor shall provide shop drawings indicating the location, size and means of support for all equipment, grounds, cable routings, bonding connections, etc. The scope of work is to provide and install an effective, aesthetically acceptable lightning protection system employing the latest technology. The Contractor for the installation of lightning protection equipment shall follow these Specifications, the Underwriters Laboratories UL 96 Standards for Safety, Lightning Protection Components, UL 96A and the National Fire Protection Agency 780 Standards for the Installation of Lightning Protection Systems. There shall be one common ground established for each building at or near the power source entering the building. The lightning protection system air terminals, electrical system, telephone, antennas, computers, remote telemetry, and radios shall have their grounds bonded together at this common ground.
