QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOR METERED MAIL EQUIPMENT

Question 1:

Two Mid Volume Folder Inserter (One for Brevard, One for Lake Baldwin facility) Double Document Detection w/Electromechanical & infrared light.

Can this requirement be changed to /Electromechanical or infrared light?

Yes.

There are 2 main ways of identifying double Document Detect:

1) Light sensors 2) Electromechanical sensors.

Pitney Bowes uses light sensors to do the measuring. Electromechanical sensors, due to their mechanical nature, are susceptible to recalibration requirements by service technicians. This is precisely the reason PB opts for the light sensor methodology, reducing possibilities for down-time and increasing the integrity of the double document detection functionality. Light sensors measure paper length so that the trial piece is exact. It also measures the opacity of a document which provides a second way of protecting the integrity of the job.
