About this file

This is Amendment 0002 to Request for Quote (RFQ) 36C24726Q0450 for a Two-Way Radio System Communications replacement. The amendment, issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center and administered by CAVHCS-West Campus Montgomery, provides clarification on a single technical question and removes AES-256 encryption from the original objectives.

The solicitation concerns procurement of a two-way radio communications system replacement for the Montgomery and Tuskegee VA Medical Center campuses located in Alabama. In response to vendor inquiry, the government clarified that the system operates on UHF frequencies and that antenna requirements vary by location. At the Montgomery campus, a site visit is required to assess whether the existing antenna and installation location can be reused. At the Tuskegee campus, equipment relocation necessitates a new antenna installation. The government explicitly states that vendors must conduct a comprehensive site and equipment assessment and provide recommendations based on verified field conditions to ensure an appropriate solution, as the government acknowledges lacking subject matter expertise in two-way radio systems. All other terms and conditions of the original RFQ remain unchanged.

QUESTION AND ANSWERS

RFQ: 36C24726Q0450

TWO-WAY Radio System Communications

Question:

1. Are the radios UHF or VHF? Does the repeater need an antenna system? If so, where is it to be installed and how high up?

Answer:

· To the best of my knowledge, the system UHF

· A site visit needs to be conducted to determine if the existing antenna and antenna location can be used at the Montgomery campus. Due to equipment relocation at the Tuskegee campus, a new antenna will be required. As we are not the best subject‑matter experts in two‑way radio systems, we require the vendor to perform a site and equipment assessment and provide a recommendation based on verified conditions to ensure the most appropriate solution.
