A.2 SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS

Replacement mattresses for Hill-Rom Long Term Care (LTC) flat deck bed frames. Mattresses shall be compatible with the bed frames. Vendor will be expected to view the bed frames and make any modifications to the mattresses to ensure proper fit to the bed frames.

Control Unit

· Power switch on the main control box to cut power in case of an emergency.

· CPR control on the front of the control unit.

· CPR control, the system hyperinflates the surface for 60 minutes or longer.

· The CPR mode has an audible or visible warning.

· Visible status for the control unit, to ensure that the bed is plugged in and operating correctly.

· Main control panel features:

· Controls Lockout – locks out all controls on the panel, except CPR

· Plus & Minus Controls – increase or decrease weight of patient so weight-based pressure relief can be exact for each individual veteran

· LB/KG Control – changes the weight reading shown on the display to pounds or kilograms

· Out of bed alarm – monitors the presence of the Veterans weight in the bed. If the weight is not detected, the system will alert with an audible alarm

· Head alarm – monitors the angle of the head section relative to the floor. If armed and the head section goes below 30 degrees, the light bar will flash orange for five minutes and then the audible alarm will come on if not corrected.

· Head angle is shown in degrees on the head alarm display.

· Alarm Silence – when the surface is in the alarm state, the silence control turns the audible alarm sound off and the flashing light bar off for 30 minutes. If the problem/alarm has not been addresses in 30 minutes, the alarm sound and flashing light bar will come on again.

· Comfort Adjust – Ability to adjust comfort while still providing pressure redistribution.

· Surface Mode

· Normal - Normal mode causes the air pressure in the surface sections to adjust according to the occupant’s weight and the surface head angle

· Max Inflate mode causes the surface to become very firm. After the surface has been in Max Inflate mode for 30 minutes, an alarm comes on, the control’s indicator flashes, and the surface goes into Normal mode.

· The Turn Assist mode helps caregiver temporarily turn the occupant to the left or right. When you turn this mode on, the head and seat bladders adjust, and an internal air bladder inflates to start the turning process. After the occupant reaches 25° to 35°, the surface will pause for approximately 15 seconds. After the 15 seconds, an audible indicator comes on, the bladder quickly deflates, and the surface returns to its previous mode.

Surface

· Technology that allows for the decreased localized heat and moisture buildup between the patient and mattress surface.

· Surface effectively redistributes pressure for occupant weights up to 500 lb

· antimicrobial surface that kills stain and odor causing bacteria on the surface.

· X-ray cassette sleeve that permits a 17" x 14" x-ray cassette to be inserted from either side of the coverlet.

· Sustained sheer stress (mmHg) less than 1.7 after articulation from flat to 30 degrees head of bed elevation.

Specifications

· Surface width (inflated) 35.5"

· Surface length (inflated) 84"

· Surface height (inflated) 8”

· Surface weight - less than 48lbs

· Control unit weight – less than 33lbs

· Recommended therapeutic occupant weight range 70 lb to 500 lb

· Recommended therapeutic occupant height range 4' 11" to 6' 2"

· Surface safe working load 500 lb

Environmental Conditions

· Temperature 59°F to 104°F

· Relative humidity range 10% to 90% (non-condensing)

Transport and Storage Conditions

· Temperature -40°F to 158°F

· Relative humidity range 10% to 95% ** Supplier must have service center with available back up parts or rental equivalents (in case of damage to an owned unit) within 150 miles of the facility.
