About this file
This document is a Justification and Approval (J&A) for Other Than Full and Open Competition for a federal contract modification. The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 05, VA Maryland Healthcare Medical Center requires a 2-month extension to existing transportation contracts 36C24520D0001, 36C24520D0002, 36C24520D0003, and 36C24520D0006 to provide ground wheelchair transport services to and from VA Baltimore Maryland Health Care System locations and Community Care appointments. The current contracts expire on 09/30/2024, and a new long-term contract solicitation is at risk of not being in place by that date. The contracting officer cites FAR 6.302-1 as the statutory authority, as the incumbent contractors are the only responsible sources able to meet the agency's requirements at this time. The contracting officer anticipates extending the current contract pricing to be fair and reasonable. A sources sought notice was posted and an RFQ is being processed for a new long-term contract after the 2-month extension period.
