DESCRIPTION

THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENT. THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. This Sources Sought Notice is intended for information and planning purposes only at this time; and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation on the part of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Because this is a Sources Sought announcement, no evaluation letters and/or results will be issued to the respondents. No solicitation exists. Therefore, do not request a copy of a solicitation.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), VISN 4, Network Contracting Office 4 (NCO 4), is seeking information and potential qualified sources capable of providing Brand Name Only Eaton Switchgear Breakers. The breakers will be delivered to the Wilmington VA Medical Center, located in Wilmington, DE 19805.

Statement of Need

Description: Switchgear Breakers

1. Background: The Wilmington VA Medical Center (WVAMC), located at 1601 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, Delaware, has identified a critical requirement for the acquisition of three (3) replacement switchgear breakers for Room 143 Mechanical Room. The breakers will support the Facilities Management Service (FMS) electricians and serve as essential backup components for the facility’s electrical distribution system. During recent testing, issues were identified with the existing breakers, and WVAMC currently does not have replacement breakers readily available in the event of a future failure. The subject switchgear is essential to maintaining reliable electrical power throughout the medical center. In the event of a primary power interruption, emergency generator power is supplied through the switchgear to support continued facility operations. Failure of a switchgear breaker could adversely impact the distribution of emergency power and place the medical center at increased operational and life-safety risk. Accordingly, the acquisition of replacement breakers is necessary to ensure equipment availability, minimize potential electrical system downtime, and support the continuity of critical healthcare operations and patient safety.

2. Description of Equipment: The required equipment consists of three (3) Eaton DS-416H switchgear breakers specifically designed and configured for compatibility with the existing switchgear system located in Room 143. Due to the unique design, electrical requirements, and compartment dimensions of the existing switchgear, the breakers must meet precise specifications to ensure proper fit, installation, and safe operation. These replacement breakers will serve as critical backup equipment and provide operational continuity in the event of a breaker failure.
