Background
The De Mayo Knee positioner will be equipment used in the Operating Room during Total Knee Replacement procedures.
This set offers flexibility in adapting to different surgical requirements and anatomies. This set is designed to ensure clear visualization and accessibility during abdominal, orthopedic, and spinal procedures. For a procedure, the OR staff will ensure all components of the set are present and in good conditioning, including proper sterilization of the set. The patient will be positioned appropriately for the procedure and then the vertical and horizontal bars of the frame will be connected and adjusted according to the patient’s anatomy. The appropriate blades for the surgical site will be selected and attached securely to the frame to ensure proper alignment to help secure the frame to the surgical table with the table clamps. This set is compatible with the current set that our OR has and in a time of need it is crucial to have an instrument that is exact or very similar to what we currently have so no time is wasted in continuing with the procedure.
A few things that set this set apart from others is that it:
Surgeons
· Longest length De Mayo Knee Positioner at 32”.
· Extremely stable on the OR Table.
· Positioner supports complete weight of limb.
· Improves case efficiency with surgeons and staff.
· Easy function in the sterile field.
· Having the positioner acts as an additional assistant in the OR.
OR Staff
· Positioner matches length to the table well.
· Single tray creates efficiency when setting up the positioner.
· Reduces staff fatigue during procedures.
· Easy set up in the sterile field over sterile drapes.
· IMP patient protective pads are designed to prevent contact between the patient and the positioner.
SPD
· Breaks down into two pieces.
· Easier to disinfect than longer, one-piece units.
· Simplifies sterilization, increasing turn-around time & productivity.
· Fits into a single sterilization case, allowing for smaller storage spaces.
· Sterile cases simplify blue wrapping for sterilization.
· Sterile cases help reduce the risk of strike-through in blue wraps.
· Sterile case insert fits into sterile container, eliminating blue wrap.
