Statement of Need
VA Pittsburgh Pathology and Lab tissue processor
1. Background:
VA Pittsburgh Healthcare Systems requires a Lab tissue processor. The Pathology Department uses tissue processors for preparation of tissue samples for microscopic examinations in histology and pathology laboratories. Tissue processors automate the process of tissue fixation, dehydration, clearing, and impregnation with paraffin wax, providing high-quality tissue sections for staining and analysis.
History of the Requirement: Currently, the facility has one tissue processor which is outdated due to fair wear and tear issues such as hydraulic leaks, worn seals, deteriorated bearings, deteriorated races, worn fittings and stripped wiring.
The impact to the VA Pittsburgh Medical Center, if the machine is not replaced, the lab personnel will have to further scrutinize analysis due to the possibility of inaccuracies. Therefore, the only option to avoid these potential issues, is to replace the current near end of life service platform.
Summary of the Requirement: The purchase of the tissue processor will automate the process of tissue fixation, dehydration, clearing, and impregnation with paraffin wax, providing high-quality tissue sections for staining and analysis.
2. Detailed description of requirement Purchase of the following product:
