About this file

This is a Request for Information (RFI) document for federal contract 36C24426B0008 regarding terrazzo step repair at a VA facility.

The RFI consists of nine questions and VA answers clarifying project requirements and constraints. Key operational parameters include: the stairwell will be closed during repairs with an alternate exit route provided; Stair Tower 70 will be closed from ground floor to first floor; work scheduling details should reference the Statement of Work; and the building will remain fully occupied during construction requiring infection control measures at Level II per the VHA Infection Control Risk Assessment. Staffing requirements mandate that the project Superintendent be a direct employee of the Prime Contractor; however, one individual may serve multiple roles (Superintendent, SSHO, QCM, and OSHA Competent Person) provided all qualifications and certifications are met. The contractor must be an NTMA member with documented minimum experience in terrazzo repair, including stair tread work—non-NTMA members with terrazzo experience are not acceptable. The grinding, demolition, and terrazzo work will generate dust and debris requiring Level II infection control containment measures including barriers, negative air, and HEPA filtration as detailed in the attached VHA Infection Control Risk Assessment.
