CMCVAMC would also like to provide PET imaging studies utilizing Amyvid, a radioactive diagnostic agent for Alzheimer’s disease (AD).

Both is seeking to administer Tomography (PET) imaging daily for clinical nuclear medicine procedures. This procedure would require imaging studies utilizing Amyvid, a radioactive diagnostic agent for Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Background

The CMCVAMC will require an estimated quantity of thirty-six (36) doses of the Amyvid Fluorine-18 labelled fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) radioisotopes yearly. This critical pharmaceutical isotope is a radioactive diagnostic agent used by the nuclear medicine department for clinical procedures treating Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The Amyvid is administered to produce Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans that estimate plaque density in patients who have Alzheimer’s or other cognitive disorders plaque density. The scans completed with Amyvid will show frequent plaque buildup in the brain assisting in provider diagnoses and treatment plans.

Scope
