About this file
This Request for Information (RFI) 460-22-001 concerns a project to Add Negative Pressure in the Emergency Department (ED) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a VA hospital. The RFI addresses multiple technical and logistical questions from a potential contractor, including clarifications on contract drawings, work hours, staging areas, and specific flooring and ductwork specifications. Key details include: work hours are 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, no staging area will be provided, and noise will be managed on a daily basis. The project involves modifications to specific rooms including Closet 1405A and Ante room 3073A, with requirements to match existing flooring and base finishes. Ductwork specifications are galvanized with TDC flanged connections, per HVAC specification section 23 31 00, and the exact ductwork path will be reviewed during shop drawing submissions.

Add Negative Pressure in ED and ICU
36C24425B0020
1. The contract drawings in the solicitation are not to scale. Can a scalable set of drawings be supplied? Yes.
2. Is any company holding the warranty on the roof? NO.
3. Since the existing ED and ICU are active areas within the hospital, will there be any noise restrictions, and will the work hours be 7:30 am to 3:30 pm? Noise will be dealt with on a daily basis. 0730 to 1530 work hours are correct.
4. Will a staging area be given to the contractor for materials? NO.
5. Please clarify what flooring and base is to be installed in Closet 1405A. The Room
Finish Schedule on drawing AE-601 calls for LVT and cove base, but the Finish Description (Basis of Design) table on the same page lists LVT-1 as a BioSpec sheet vinyl. This product does not come in a plank tile. If LVT is the desired flooring please confirm style. The intent is for closet 1405A flooring and base to match existing adjacent LVT and resilient base finishes. VA to confirm if attic stock is available.
6. What type of base should be figured to patch the area outside the closet 1405A? Does the VA have attic stock? The intent is for the patch area outside of closet 1405A to match existing flooring and base finishes. VA to confirm if attic stock is available.
7. Ante room 3073A is taking over some area in the ICU-1 Procedure Room. Assuming that the ICU-1 Procedure Room has flashed coved sheet vinyl in it. ICU-1 Procedure 3073 flooring is welded seam with integral base. The intent is for Ante room 3073A to match ICU-1 flooring and base. VA to confirm if scheduled finish WSF-1 matches existing.
a. Is it Mannington BioSpec MD in the room right now? Refer to response above.
b. How much patching should I figure in this room? One shot of 6’6” wide x 14’2” – snip below. The A/E concurs with the proposed patch line.
i.
8. Drawings MH102-MH104 show some exhaust ductwork coming off the roof fans to some low wall exhaust grilles. What is the construction specs for this ductwork? Is it stainless, galvanized, alum? Welded or TDC? The ductwork will be galvanized per the specification section 23 31 00 HVAC Ducts and Casings and would have TDC flanged connections.
9. Drawing MH104 shows new exhaust ductwork being installed in a location already occupied by existing ductwork. The location of the existing ductwork on drawing MH104 is incorrect. See attached document. Please advise. Exact path shall be reviewed and approved when coordinated shop drawings are summitted for review.
