Controller - Furnish and install a new, non-proprietary and universally serviceable microprocessor based solid state selective collective control system. This system provides smooth acceleration and deceleration of the car. Provide a associated, non-proprietary Drive for optimum motor control. The new system will contain all Fire Recall Features and Door Lock Monitoring as required by code.
Machine – Remove existing traction machine and furnish and install new non-priority machine, including AC motor. Provide support steel as necessary. This machine is energy efficient and provides top-notch ride quality. It will provide more space in the machine room, thus providing a safer work environment.
Landing Unit – Furnish and install a leveling system. This system will eliminate leveling issues and the elevator inadvertently skipping floors. This control box is attached directly to the top of the elevator.
Car Stations – Furnish and install two (2) new car stations, per car. Car stations will include a series of push buttons numbered to correspond to the landings served. The stations will have an emergency stop switch, alarm button, fan and light switch, independent switch, emergency light, emergency phone and Braille markings. Car stations will also have an L.E.D. digital position indicator.
Hall Stations – Furnish and install new hall stations at all landings. Hall stations will have an up and down button at intermediate landings and a single button at the terminal landings. The Lobby landing will have a key switch for NYC fire service operation. Hall stations will be installed at ADA compliant height.
Hall Lanterns – Furnish and Install hall lanterns with CE Electronic digital displays above each entrance at all floors.
New Cab Shell with Interior Cab – Install new sub-flooring, platform and cab enclosure. Twenty Thousand Dollar allowance ($20,000.00). Design will be agreed upon by Owner and Contractor. Cab will include new recessed lighting, new wall panels covered in laminate, new dropped ceiling, new vinyl flooring, new covering on return wall and transom. We will make all necessary modification and add counterweights to obtain 40% compensation. ETI will also include one set of custom-made protective padding per elevator.
Safeties – Install new car safeties Governor – Furnish and install new overspeed governor including a new governor cable and tension weight.
Hoist Cables – Furnish and install new hoist cables on all cars.
Traveling Cables – Furnish and install a new elevator traveling cable. Traveling cables are multi-conductor cables containing the necessary wires (plus 10% spares) to connect all devices on the elevator to the control system lighting and power circuits. These are heavy duty flexible conductors with a water-resistant covering. Cables will include a shielded pair for communication and a coaxial cable for future camera wiring. The cables will be hung by means of special spool type hangers and the terminal connections will be relieved from all strain. The hangers and the terminal boxes will be securely fastened to the car rail or to the building structure and to the elevator car frame.
Shaft Wiring – Furnish and install new shaft wiring. Existing wiring will be removed and replaced with all new wiring for the proper operation of the equipment and shall meet all code requirements. All conductors are to be run in conduit or metal wire-way as required and shall be installed in an orderly manner. Flexible metal conduit may be used for short runs between equipment and risers. The existing conduits may be retained pending the condition. All wiring shall test free from short circuits or grounds and the resistance to ground.
Shaft Door Equipment – Furnish and install new shaft door tracks, door hangers, door release assemblies, door locks, spring closers and Z-brackets on all shaft doors. Each hatchway door will be equipped with an Underwriter’s approved electromechanical interlock so wired and connected as to prevent the operation of the elevator away from the landing unless all the doors are positively locked in the closed position. The interlocks will also prevent the opening of any door until the car has reached a landing. Interlocks will meet the requirements of the Municipal and State departments having jurisdiction.
Car Door Operator – Furnish and install new, non-proprietary, heavy duty door operator, header, track and hangers.
Elevator Doors – Furnish and install new car door and new hoist doors at each landing, stainless steel; Door sills and frames will remain.
Door Zone Lock – Furnish and install new door zone lock as per code.
Hoistway Limits – Furnish and install new hoistway terminal slowdown and limit switches.
Rails – Existing rails shall be reused. Rails shall be realigned and securely fastened throughout the hoistway as necessary.
Rope Gripper – Furnish and install new rope gripper, per code. This safety device is used to grip elevator suspension ropes to stop an elevator in the event of a mechanical or electrical failure. This device prevents injuries if the elevator over speeds in the up direction or if the elevator leaves the floor with the door opened.
Elevator Pit – Furnish and install pit light, and GFCI Outlet in pit.
Pit Ladder – Retain existing pit ladder Car and Counterweight Guide Rollers – Furnish and install new car and counterweight guide rollers.
Buffer Springs – Furnish and install new car and counterweight buffer springs in pit.
Shutdown Time for All of The Above Work – Approximately sixteen (16) weeks, not including holidays.
Construction Phasing and Access Limitations Work shall be phased to maintain safe egress and minimize impact to active Canteen kitchen operations. Elevator S7 may be removed from service only during shutdown periods approved in writing by the COR and Nutrition & Food Service (NFS). The contractor shall submit a detailed phasing plan identifying elevator outage durations, delivery paths, staging areas, and temporary protections. Normal work hours are 1600 to 0000, Monday through Friday; any work generating high noise, vibration, odors, or requiring utility shutdowns shall be performed during off-hours (nights/weekends/holidays) as directed by the COR. All power, fire alarm, sprinkler, or kitchen utility shutdowns shall be requested a minimum of XX business days in advance through the VA shutdown process.
