About this file

This is a Question and Answer (Q&A) document for RFI #36C24225Q0269 regarding the replacement of an exhaust fan at a VA facility (Project #526-25-112A). The document addresses five technical questions about the project specifications and requirements.

The Q&A clarifies that no commissioning systems (such as fire sprinkler, medical air systems, or elevators) are required for this project. The new exhaust fan will use the existing roof curb as it has the same dimensions and footprint as the non-functioning unit being replaced. The existing fan is not powered through a VFD and there are no controls involved in the project. Power for the new unit will be supplied from panel PDP through an existing roof disconnect, as shown in the accompanying reference photos of the electrical panel and disconnect box.

36C24225Q0269 Replace Exhaust Fan RFIs

Project #526-25-112A

1) Specification Section 01 91 00 paragraph 1.7 outlines the commissioning systems to be considered as part of this project. Some of those systems include the fire sprinkler system, medical air systems, elevators, etc. Can the VA confirm that this is not the case for this project? If so, will there be any required commissioning on this project?

No, this is not the case for this project.

2) Will existing roof curb accommodate the new exhaust fan unit? If not, will a new curb need to be constructed or will the unit be able to lay on the existing roof?

Yes, as the dimensions and footprint of the exhaust fan is the same as the non-functioning existing exhaust fan so, please use the existing roof curb.

3) Is the current exhaust fan powered through a VFD? If so, will that need be replaced as well?

No.

4) Are there any controls involved with this project?

No.

5) Where is the power for the new unit to be fed from?

There is a disconnect located on the roof and the panel it is fed from is panel PDP and the breaker is in that panel. Please see the following reference pictures.
