Selection Criteria

Selection of the CED research testing equipment + software is based on the performance needs of Dr. Wilhite’s research, which requires extremely accurate (+/- 1%) and precise measurements of respiratory flow and volume data to track respiratory limitations in Veterans with airborne disease. In addition, criteria include real-time correction of the flow signal for body temperature and saturation, appropriate display (real-time and post-processing) of flow vs. volume curves, correction of system drift in real time, custom scripts for processing flow and volume data after collection, and post-processing arrangement of data for storage and statistical analysis.
