Outside of Abatement, demolition scope is very limited and addressed within the contract documents.
6) Spec section 01 35 26 page 15, para 1.9B states to provide CSP with monthly site visit. Please confirm this is required and if it has to be by a third party?
You should always have a safety professional on site, which is usually your site superintendent, and not it does not have to be a third party.
7) There is an extensive spec section no. 01 91 00 for General Commissioning Requirement. Please advice if this is VA’s responsibility or contractor can performed this commissioning work with his own crew and sub-contractors.

Yes, all symbols in the legend are related to new work. All items, with the exception of the existing steel columns/column footing to be VIF, within the bold “proposed slab on grade extents” on the framing plan for proposed S.O.G. on sheet 19-01-BK/15-SB101 pertain to the new structural work.
9) Please advice if the new concrete slab in the basement can be poured in one phase or two phases, also what is the access to get the concrete and gravel inside the basement floor.
The large slab on grade (S.O.G.1) may be constructed in 1 phase if desired as long as all contraction, construction and isolation joints can adequately be achieved. However, equipment pads (S1 & S2) and MRI slab (S.O.G.2 w/ haunches) should be poured as part of a separate phase. Regarding the access into the building, this should be coordinated with the facility manager and be part of the contractor’s means and methods for the project. MFS does not have detailed as-built/existing conditions information and recommends any questions regarding existing conditions be verified in field.
10) What is the floor to deck height inside the project area? n crew.
Existing documents provide a datum elevation for the top of the existing 6” conc slab at +7’-7 ½”. The top of the finished floor on the ground level is listed at +22’-7 ½”. GC to field verify.

At this point there is no expectation for the need of a moisture remediation coating. GC is responsible to verify existing conditions at the time of construction to make sure surfaces meet specification requirements to receive new product applications. Discrepancies are to be brought to the attention of the VA.
14) For the new MRI room construction drawings indicates copper RF shielding panels and copper shielding floors. --- Please provide specification for RF shielding panels and copper floors and confirm if this work is contractor’s responsibility.

Please provide a detailed/section drawing of the trench with details of bedding, backfill material, etc . Also cellar part plan 15-PL001 does not show these new sanitary and waste drainage piping or any key notes. Corridor CB-8 to receive DP-1; MRI Room B-652 to receive DP-2.
26) Drawing MH705 details 38 and 39 indicates structural steel dunnage. – Please clarify if this is required or not, contractor cannot determine this at this bidding stage.
Detail 39 is required for mounted equipment on roof housekeeping pad. Structural steel dunnage is not required.
27) The existing basement floor is exposed crushed stone. Can you please provide the existing elevation of this existing stone base in order for us to determine how much additional fill or removals that may be required for new slab? Please provide elevation of new slab on grade to be poured.

Yes, the wall louver shall be removed for site access (to be coordinated with VA COR).
29) Can you please provide the company and contact information for the HVAC control company that handles VA Brooklyn?
Robert E. Rousseau Senior Account Manager - NY Metro Area Honeywell Building Solutions 127 West 30th Street, Suite 912 New York, NY 10001 Direct: (516) 302-9497 Mobile: (917) 843-4945 www.buildingsolutions.honeywell.com Robert.Rousseau@Honeywell.com
30) Is there a specification available for the RF & Magnetic Shielded Enclosure for the MRI room?
Please see Philips’ Drawings.
31) On drawing sheet number AS600 equipment schedule item number F12 and F13 are noted to be furnished by VA and installed by Contractor. Please clarify that “Contractor” does not mean the general contractor and these items are installed by MRI machine supplier and is not part of our contract?
F12 has a typo. It should read, “Injector, MRI,” and is purchased by VA and installed by that vendor. F13 is a reference to the MRI equipment in its entirety, therefore the GC’s responsibilities are assigned in the Philip’s drawings.
32) On drawing 15-MH402 there is a piece of equipment AC-2SS/CU-1 ( split system air conditioner) for the MRI room. On drawing 15-M101 it indicates that the SACU unit is provided by Phillips.
The question I have is Phillips providing the Stulz unit AC-2SS which seems to part of the SACU?
This is a costly item so please clarify.
The SACU is provided by Phillips and installed by GC but is not a part of AC-2SS. Even though the dwg shows them together. The SACU is a duct control device that has nothing to do with AC-2SS. The Split system Stulz unit CU-1/AC-2SS is provided and installed by the contractor.
