Background – Installed at the Stratton VA in a Lenel Onguard access control system which currently has 300+ card/proximity/PIN readers, addressable intercom stations, and 90 addressable cameras for security monitoring. All work will be during normal business hours M-F with coordination through the VA COR for this project. A. Scope of Work:
1. ICU main receptionist entrance:
Double doors into the ICU on the 2nd floor D-Wing need to be secured to allow Card/PIN access, programmed through the currently installed Lenel Onguard system. Magnetic pad type locking mechanisms (mag-locks) will be installed to secure the doors.
An intercom system is to be installed with video and audio capability. A master desk console inside the ICU and an outside wall station for requesting access will be installed. . Also installed, as part of this security system, is an electronic automatic door operator with dual swing operation, request to exit push pads with remote control capability to allow doors to “swing” open upon exiting the space.
Also installed, as outlined in NFPA 101, an emergency release installed outside the suite to allow “emergency” override of the mag locks.
As these doors are used for egress evacuation, it is the intent of this SOW that ALL work comply with NFPA 101 under existing conditions, (Locking Doors in Means of Egress) Current edition for NFPA 101 must be followed.
1. Upon activation of the fire alarm the doors will automatically unlock. This feature is currently used on the existing doors, but will need to be tied in to the new control sequence.
2. There will be provision to have installed an “automatic emergency release” outside the space to unlock the door magnets. This manual “pull to open” device will interrupt the power going to the magnets in the event an override is needed.
3. Request to exit, battery powered, remote control “push-pads” will be installed inside the area to allow access out. Doors will automatically open upon activation of these devices through the newly installed automatic door opener.
4. Electric automatic door operator (Nabco Gyro-Tech 710) will be installed allowing for opposite swing operation upon entrance and exit. This device will be installed as such to allow proper swing in and out with the current doors and door frame existing.
5. Remote access will be allowed through the audio/video intercom system. 1 Base unit at the control desk and one wall station with audio video capability. Remote door open will be installed as part of the base station capability.
6. HID PIV Class RK-40 access control proximity/PIN reader installed outside suite.
7. Forced door contacts will be installed and tied into the Lenel OnGuard system.
8. Mag-Lock power panel will need to be installed above the ceiling to supply 120 volts for the mag lock magnets.
2. Rear ICU Entrance:
Double doors into the ICU on the 2nd floor D-Wing (rear) need to be secured to allow Card/PIN access, programmed through the currently installed Lenel Onguard system.
Also installed, as outlined in NFPA 101, an emergency release installed inside the suite to allow “emergency” override of the mag locks for exiting purposes.

3. Dialysis Doors:
The doors at the opposite end of the 2D corridor are currently locked with swipe access only. These doors will need to have installed a manual “pull to override” switch to comply with NFPA 101. As part of this SOW, it is the intent to have this switch installed.
4. Security System Infrastructure:
In the 2D/2C area there are various control boards, power panels, and access control modules in the ceilings for Lenel OnGuard system. These circuit boards are already in use and control various mag locks, swipe card readers, in this general area.
