No proposals are being requested or accepted with this synopsis. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION FOR PROPOSALS AND NO CONTRACT SHALL BE AWARDED FROM THIS SYNOPSIS. THIS IS STRICTLY MARKET RESEARCH.
The purpose of this synopsis is to gain knowledge of interest, capabilities, and qualifications of various members of industry, who are authorized by Adaptive Bike manufacturers to distribute, modify, and customize (3) new, name brand name or equal, Adaptive Bikes: Recumbent Bikes, Recumbent Trikes, and Hand Cycles to be used by the Recreation Therapy Department, SPR&S (Sensory & Physical Rehabilitation Service), for both Inpatient and Outpatient programs.
The Adaptive Bikes required must be brand name or equivalent to the 1) Maddiline Crosswind XE, 2) E-Azteca Fat Tire Electric Recumbent Trike, and 3) Gekko FX-20 Recumbent Trike in affording Recreational Therapy the capability to adapt and customize to develop a baseline pattern, that will enable the Recreational Therapy Department to adapt and configure brand name or equivalent models to customize and “fit” subsequent models to accommodate unique healthcare and mobility needs/limitations, nor accommodations of individual Veterans with different physical characteristics. The brand name or equal brands will allow the capability to adjust adaptive bikes for Veterans’ unique physical characteristics: height, weight and size requirements.
This is a new requirement for adaptive bikes for VAMC Manchester. VAMC Manchester is seeking three (3) new, name brand, Adaptive Bikes: Recumbent Bikes, Recumbent Trikes, and Hand Cycles to be used by the Recreation Therapy Department, SPR&S (Sensory & Physical Rehabilitation Service), for both Inpatient and Outpatient programs.
With growing program needs for Veterans served by SPR&S, the selected brands and models Adaptive Bikes will offer additional adaptations and increase opportunities to serve Veterans with medical and mobility disabilities. This procurement will serve to provide a customized baseline fitting to procure individual Adaptive Bikes for Veterans with special healthcare and mobility needs.
Specific brands and models of Adaptive Bikes selected have been identified as brands and models with peculiar features to provide recreational therapy for Veterans with specific health factors and/or mobility needs. These Adaptive Bikes are usually purchased via Prosthetics Acquisition and Government Purchase Card (GPC) to support Veterans with specific health or mobility needs.
There is a VA need to establish baseline brands and models of adaptive bikes that can be purchased in a single order. These baseline configurations will be used to properly fit disabled Veterans by accommodating varied physical characteristics such as weight, height, and limb length. The measurements taken from these baseline bikes will then guide authorized distributors in configuring future Prosthetics or GPC orders, ensuring each adaptive bike is customized to meet the unique disabilities and healthcare needs of individual Veterans.
The salient characteristics listed on P3 of the Sources Sought for Adaptive Bikes are required to successfully achieve and support the Recreational Therapy Mission to establish baseline configurations to properly fit Veterans with specific health factors and mobility needs:
