About this file
This document is a set of Questions and Answers related to a Request for Information (RFI) for a federal contract opportunity.
The key details are:
- The contract opportunity is for shower repair work at Building 4, issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Integrated Service Network 1.
- The RFI addresses questions about floor drains, steam heaters, metal plate studs, opening walls to access shower faucets, use of jackhammers, options for partial or full floor removal, access to view drain pipes, scope of work for wall/ceiling repairs, ability to work weekends, applicability of prevailing wages, and allowance for working on multiple rooms simultaneously.
- The responses indicate that floor drains are functional, there have been no steam heater leak issues, change orders would only be approved for metal plate stud replacement impacting the flooring scope, wall openings require contracting approval, jackhammers can be used if necessary, full floor removal is preferred, drain pipes can be viewed, wall/ceiling repairs are not part of the scope, weekend work is allowed, prevailing wages per Wage Determination 2015-4047 Rev 26 apply, and multiple rooms can be worked on simultaneously if adequate resident facilities and OSHA safety requirements are met.

- Can we use jackhammers? CAN BE DECIDED CASE BY CASE, BUT UNLIKELY UNLESS COMPLETELY NECESSARY AS THIS IS A PATIENT RESIDENCE/CARE AREA
- Do you want quotes for partial floor removal or full floor removal or both? Taking up the entire floor would guarantee the work. FULL FLOOR FOR GUARANTEE
- Can we view the drain pipes? YES.
