1. Contracting Activity: Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 01, on behalf of the VA Boston Healthcare System in Jamaica Plain and Brockton, MA 02130
2. Brief Description of Supplies/ Services required and the intended use/Estimated Amount:
Carestream Dental Digital Xray Sensors for VA Brockton and JP. The objective of this task order is to provide reusable Carestream Dental Digital Xray Sensors and a software license for 20 concurrent users each for VA Brockton and VA Boston Dental Service, to be used to acquire digital dental x-ray images from Carestream Xray systems and to upload the images to the VA Brockton and Boston
Dental Service MiPACS dental PACS.
3. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used:
VA Boston and VA Brockton Dental Service require new fleets of x-ray sensors because the current
Gendex software is unapproved for OIT workstations, which are used to take the x-rays, and the
Gendex sensors are incompatible with the new X-ray machines. Carestream Dental provides x-ray sensors that directly interface with the Carestream CBCT machines at these campuses and are TRM approved for OIT computers.
4. Description of market research conducted and results or statement why it was not conducted:
A search of the GSA elibrary utilizing 65IIC C-37B yielded 14 results. A query of the National
Acquisition Center (CCST) using SIN C-37B yielded 969 results. Queried the Federal Procurement
Database (FPDS) and identified eleven (11) similar procurements. A query of High-Tech Medical
Equipment contracts yielded one (1) result - SPE2D1-17-D-0019. OEM Carestream provided a letter stating they are the manufacturer of the RVG 6200 Sensor and applicable software. They also provided a list of authorized vendors - two (2) Small Businesses and one (1) Service Disabled Veteran
