RFI Questions and Answers 523-24-005 Parking Garage Fencing Solicitation IFB: 36C24123B0016

1.) Question: I don't see specifications for the fencing and show chute on this project. Is the VA providing the materials and contractor just providing installation?

Answer: No, contractor is to provide fence and chute.

2.) Question: Are you able to provide us with the specs/detailed drawings of the ornamental fence detail?

Answer: Specifications were included with initial package.

3.) Question: Could you please confirm the footage of the fence needed?

Answer: 700 Ft

4.) Question: You seem to have a very detailed specification for the fence in this project. As such you must have a certain manufacturer in mind. Can you please provide us with it and the model of fence? Same for the snow chute.

Answer: None requested. Specifications were derived from a similar project at another campus.

5.) Question: Can you direct me to the drawing this is referring to? "Part 3 - Execution" states: " 3.2 POST SETTING A. Install posts plumb and in alignment. Set post onto concrete as shown with mounting flange secured to concrete."

Answer: “As shown” is an error, please disregard.

6.) Question: Does the installer have the option to mount posts into a cored hole versus a flanged mount? Under "1.3 Statement of Bid Item(s)" it states: "Any coring or penetrations on the precast must be verified prior to coring." So, it seems this is an option. Can you clarify?

Answer: It is assumed contractor may need to core into the structure to perform the work based on the fence manufacturer they select.

7.) Question: Can you direct me to the specifications for the Snow Chute and lift mechanism referenced in 1.3 Statement of Bid Item(s) “2. Install snow chute and loading mechanism on south face of garage."

Answer: VA has no preferences on snow chute and lift design so long as it is compatible with the existing structure and new fence.
