RStatement of Objectives (SOO)

1.0 SCOPE OF REQUIREMENT – We are requesting the procurement of 38 Staxi Ranger Transport Chairs – hospital grade quality that include ancillary features such as an oxygen tank holder and an IV pole along with fold under leg rests for our Jamaica Plain Campus. There was a collateral effort between patient safety and Safe Patient Handling that stemmed from an SOP that we were writing for the patient transport service, and we discovered when we came to the PM portion of the SOP, how run down, need of serious repair, and past life expectancy the current Staxi Chairs were at this campus of the medical center. The Staxi Ranger chairs have unique qualities of being able to nest into a very tight bunch when not being used which is critical at our JP campus due to the tight space in the indoor front lobby. The Ranger model has an 800 lb weight capacity but is only 79lbs in actual weight and is easy to push for elderly spouses of veterans as well.

The Department of Veteran Affairs, VISN 01, VA Boston Healthcare System due to numerous factors has a requirement for: 38 Staxi Ranger Transport Chairs.

The objective of this task order is to provide:

A safe and efficient way to transport our veteran patients to and from appointments in our 10-story high facility with mostly outpatient ambulatory care services, following our National Safe Patient Handling and Mobility Directive 1611. The Staxi Ranger chairs are patient transport chairs which are very safe because a patient can’t push them by themselves unlike a regular wheelchair. Procuring these will also help reduce patient injuries and falls.
