See CONTINUATION Page 631-3610162-4813-856700-2542 0100C10Z2 X The above referenced solicitation in block 9A for Regulated Medical Waste (RMW), Pathological Waste, Other Potentially nfectious Material (OPIM) and Trace Chemotherapy waste for the VA Central Western Massachusetts Medical Center located in Leeds, MA is hereby modified as follows:

1. Vendor questions and Government a nswers are listed below.

2. Questions are in BLACK and answers are in RED.

Mercedes Blanton Contracting Officer

VA-VHA-SAOE-2016-70627244

1. Question: Do you have a Bid Tabulation. This would consist of how many boxes are picked up weekly at the VA in Leeds Answer: FY2020 – There were exactly 390 boxes picked up at VA CWM. These boxes were a combination of 4 and 7 cubic foot boxes. The expectation is that this number will increase as service will be expanding with the addition of the New Worcester Super CBOC that is currently under construction at UMASS Medical Center.

2. Question: Please confirm cardboard boxes are applicable for containers for the trace chemo and regulated medical waste disposal.

Answer: Our current RMW Hauler provides VA CWM with labeled cardboard boxes to transport the waste off-site. I have no preference on shipping containers as long as they compliant with MA Department of Public Health regulations.

See excerpt below taken from 105 CMR 480 - MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF MEDICAL OR BIOLOGICAL WASTE (STATE SANITARY CODE CHAPTER VIII) Additionally, I have attached a current copy of the regulation for reference. All generator’s (i.e. VA CWM), as well as transport, storage and disposal contractors must comply with the attached regulation.

· (B) Every container or bag of waste which has not been rendered noninfectious in accordance with 105 CMR 480.150 and which will be transported off the premises of the waste generator shall, in addition to the requirements of 105 CMR 480.300(A), be placed in secondary containers which are:

· (1) Rigid;

· (2) Leak resistant;

· (3) Impervious to moisture;

· (4) Of sufficient strength to prevent tearing or bursting under normal conditions of use and handling, and

· (5) Sealed to prevent leakage during transport.

3. Question: Could you please tell me if this is a new requirement, or if there is a current or previous contractor who has performed similar services? If available, can you please send along the incumbent contract or task order number?

Answer: This is a new requirement.
