1. Question: The solicitation refers to 2 and 9-gallon chemo buckets (page 5 of 59, 2 and 4). In reading this, we believe this is referring to the reusable sharps containers. Trace-chemotherapeutic waste is typically incinerated and the entire container destroyed. There is usually not that many container locations staged in a facility for trace-chemotherapeutic waste either. Can you please clarify that these containers are the reusable sharps containers?

Answer: In regards to page 59, no. 2 it would in fact be the reusable sharps containers. For page 59, no. 4 it is specific to the Chemo, vendor will need to ensure we have replacement containers for those incinerated.

2. Question: The solicitation refers to an estimated 64 containers on page 5 of 59, section 2.

“All other materials and equipment necessary to properly dispose of sharps at White River Junction VA Medical Center, White River Junction, VT 05009 (estimated 64 containers)”. Can you provide either a blueprint of the container locations or a breakdown of the container sizes?

Answer: Please see below as a spreadsheet and also listed below.

Locations are as follows: Building #1 Basement, B#1 1st Floor, B#1 2nd Floor, B#1 3rd Floor, B#28 2nd Floor, B#31 Basement, B#31 Ground Floor, B#31 1st Floor, B#31 2nd Floor, B#39 Ground Floor, B#39 1st Floor, B#39 2nd Floor, B#39 3rd Floor, B#44 Ground Floor, B#44 1st Floor, B#44 2nd Floor, B#67, B#88.

3. Question: How many 2 gallon (wall hung) containers and how many 9 gallon (floor units)?

Answer: There is estimated to be thirty five (35) each of the 9 gallon containers and two hundred fifty seven (257) each 2 gallon containers.

*Note. There are ten (10) 9 gallon chemo containers and five (5), 2 gallon chemo containers specifically for the Whiter River Junction VA Medical Center facility.

4. Question: Do the 9 gallon containers require dollies, or can they sit on the floor?

Answer: Dollies will be required and it is estimated to be 35 dollies.

5. Question: The solicitation refers to 3 mil liners on page 5 of 59, section. “(3) mil red bio bags” US DOT requires liners be ASTM Certified for 1709 and 1922 (impact and tear resistance). Would a 3 mil equivalent satisfy this requirement provided it meets the US DOT packing requirements for shipping regulated medical waste?

Answer: Yes that will satisfy.

6. Question: We also noted a correction that should be made to the line items ending in X001. These line items do not refer to the sharps services at the main facility:

Line item 0001, 1001, 2001, 3001 and 4001 read:

Regulated Medical Waste Services for the White River Junction VA Medical Center (doesn’t refer to sharps) we believe they should read:

Regulated Medical Waste and Sharps Services for the White River Junction VA Medical Center

Answer: Corrected to include the verbiage “sharps”.
