About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document from an Industry Day related to laundry services at the San Juan VA Medical Center. The document contains 14 questions and answers addressing operational details and requirements for potential contractors.
Key details include: The facility currently processes 6-7K pounds of laundry daily, with an additional 2,000 pounds during emergencies. The current laundry facility is 10,030 GSF, with new facility size limited to 11,000 GSF due to Legislative Seismic Funding requirements. The solicitation will be set aside for Small Business and SDSVOB contractors. Special linen requirements include non-elastic-hemmed fitted sheets for mental health units, regular and bariatric sheet sizes, different colored linens for Community Living Centers, and larger towels for physical therapy units. Contractors will not be exposed to contaminated linen and no specific infection control certifications are required. The VA will consider performance-based contracts with shared savings from sustainability efforts when the procurement method is determined. Surgery room linens are the only items processed separately from other laundry.
