Question
Government Response

The amendment has two statements regarding font size requirements that seem to be contradictory. Specifically, the solicitation states, " Tables and illustrations font size shall be no smaller than 12-point. Text that exceeds the font type and/or size requirements will not be evaluated. Moreover, if a graph, illustration, or table contain text in violation of the font requirement, to include character spacing and scale requirements, then the entire graph, illustration, or table will not be evaluated. Please note that even if a single letter within a word exceeds the font requirements, then that entire word (or graphic, illustration or table that the letter is within) will be deemed to be in violation and will not be evaluated."

The first sentence states the font minimum, but the subsequent sentences seem to state that font size cannot EXCEED 12 points. Can the government please clarify the following:

1. Is 12 point font is the minimum or the exact font size to be used throughout the entire document?

1. Will the government allow graphics and tables to use Times New Roman font larger than 12 point (ie: 14 point), or must all text inside of all graphics be exactly 12 point font size?

The solicitation and subsequent amendment established the font size requirement at a 12-point minimum (“Font size shall be no smaller than 12-point”). Therefore, exceeding the font size requirement, as used within the context of the amended formatting instructions, refers to font smaller than the 12-point requirement. Times New Roman fonts larger than 12-point would not constitute a font violation.
