About this file

This document is a Scope of Work (SOW) for the CUB LCW Pipe Supports Phase 2 project at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. The SOW details the requirements for a subcontractor to install LCW piping supports and reinforcement as outlined in the LCW Piping System Assessment Recommendations 3.1 through 3.9. The subcontractor shall provide all necessary supervision, labor, materials, tools, and equipment to perform the work. Key requirements include relocating ceiling supports, adding guide supports, providing bottom supports, fixing loose rod hangers, replacing expansion joints, and manually aligning pump nozzles. The work is to be performed Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with exceptions requiring approval. The project has 5 milestones with specific deadlines ranging from 0 to 25 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed. This is a small business set-aside acquisition using a Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) procurement method under NAICS code 238220 - Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning Contractors.

SCOPE OF WORK

CUB LCW PIPE SUPPORTS PHASE 2

June 12, 2024

SCOPE OF WORK

Subcontractor shall install LCW piping supports, and reinforcement as noted in LCW Piping System Recommendations 3.1 – 3.9 and all work as shown on drawing set “Final LCW Supports Plans – 02102023 – LCW Pipe Supports 11-2-79”.

The Subcontractor shall furnish all required supervision, labor, materials, tools, equipment, necessary to perform diligently and fully all work as described in the drawings and technical specifications. The Subcontractor shall perform all LOTO necessary to completely isolate the LCW system in coordination with FRA Facility Maintenance. The Subcontractor shall provide OSHA approved scaffolding for work performed on LCW Piping Assessment figure 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.6, 2.7, 2.8. The Subcontractor shall provide all fall protection equipment for the performance of the work outlined in this SOW.

LCW Piping System Assessment Recommendations

3.1 Relocate Ceiling Support Away from Seam – (Refer to Figure 2.1 in Exhibit A)

Relocate the ceiling support by providing a minimum 2” clearance between support and seam weld.

3.2 Provide Guide to Middle of Vertical Pipe Run – (Refer to Figure 2.2 in Exhibit A)

Provide a guide support to help distribute pressure.

3.3 Provide Guide to 10” LCWS Bypass Vertical Pipe Run – (Refer to Figure 2.3 in Exhibit A)

Add guide and shield plate supports along vertical run.

3.4 Provide Bottom Support at Existing Support of 12” LCWR, South End – (Refer to Figure 2.4 in Exhibit A)

Add a shield plate between the pipe and support steel to protect from different material contamination, corrosion, and abrasion of pipe movement.

3.5 Relocate Bottom Support Away from Seam of 12” LCWR, South End – (Refer to Figure 2.5 in Exhibit A)

Relocate this support close by valve or fitting, free from seam weld.

3.6 Provide New Hanger Support at LCW Booster P2B – (Refer to Figure 2.6 in Exhibit A)

Add an additional support to prevent piping from vertical deformation and help correct alignment issues.

3.7 Fix Existing Loose Rod Hangers – (Refer to Figure 2.7 in Exhibit A)

Existing rod hangers installed in the suction and discharge lines of pump P3 and P2B are loose.

Fix/tighten the rod hangers from structures to remove the stress from the pipes, and thus prevent load transfers to the equipment nozzle, fracture, or leakage.

3.8 Expansion Joints Tied Type – (Refer to Figure 2.8 in Exhibit A)

Replace existing expansion joints around P3, P2A, and P2B with Tied Expansion Joints.

3.9 Manual Pump Nozzle Alignment

Use manual pulling of piping to line up with pumps P3, P2A, and P2B.

DELIVERABLES

The Subcontractor shall perform all work required to complete the construction work in accordance with the drawings and/or specifications.
