About this file

This is a bid addendum document from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Division of Equipment for solicitation number 32-12-DC2A. The bid due date is June 2, 2016, with a bid opening time of 2:15 PM, and the purchase estimate number is MTD-DC0411816-02A. The addendum must be included with the submitted solicitation to avoid bid rejection.

The addendum contains one question and answer regarding material specifications for items 600-1245, 600-1186, and 600-1187. The vendor asked if submitting a bid using 1060 grade carbon steel would be acceptable instead of the specified 1020-1030 grade carbon steel, noting that 1060 is a higher grade. Caltrans confirmed this substitution is acceptable since the 1060 grade carbon meets or exceeds the original specifications.

ADDENDUM # 1 QUESTION AND ANSWERS

1. Question: For items 600-1245, 600-1186 and 600-1187 we will have to submit a bid using 1060 grade carbon steel rather than the 1020-1030 grade carbon that is specified.

1060 is actually a higher grade. Is this going to be a problem?

Answer: No, 1060 grade carbon meets or exceeds the specifications.
