Code 8144 Fiber Media Converters PR No.: TBD Specifications / Salient Characteristics
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS/ SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
SECTION 1: GENERAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION
Description of Requirement The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) has a program requirement to procure quantity 200 of 10/100/1000TX to 1000SX fiber to copper media converters and be integrated into systems NRL is developing for one of our sponsors. These fiber media converters are required to be capable of meeting the physical characteristics, technical and performance parameters to meet the sponsor’s requirements. These items must be delivered within ten weeks after receipt of order in order for NRL to meet the program schedule.
Primary Capabilities/ Salient Characteristics/Technical Specifications:
The salient characteristics of fiber media converters:
· Networking devices that transmit and receive data using a mixture of copper and fiber optic cables using RJ-45 and SC standard connections.
· Converts data signals from electrical signals (copper) to optical signals (fiber optics)
· Able to convert data through single-mode or multi-mode fiber optic cable
· Enhances Ethernet speeds and quality by taking copper-based cabling and converting to/from fiber-optic technology for added security and data integrity.
· Fully compliant with IEEE 802.3, 802.3u and 802.3ab Fast Ethernet
· Housed in a metal enclosure and conforms to the FCC emissions standards
· Support large-scale enterprise systems or small, standalone footprints for tight spaces and smaller applications
· Standalone media converters are compact, easy to deploy, able to mount in equipment racks or in smaller spaces
· Able to convert media and link speeds to connect 10/100/1000TX to 1000SX
· Transmit communications over fiber up to distances from 300 meters (m) to 160 Kilometers (KM)
These requirements can be acquired in the commercial marketplace by Antaira Technologies, P/N EMC-0201G-SC-M
The characteristics of the Antaira Media Converters. (part numbers above):
· Supports multi-mode conversion and single-mode for Ethernet media to fiber
· Able to transmit communications of 10/100/1000Mbps
· Provides 10/100/1000TX to 1000SX media conversion to fiber optic technology
· Complies with IEEE 802.3ab 1000BaseT & 802.3u 100BaseTX/FX standards
· Support capabilities of communications up to 500m
· Features SC fiber connectors and standard RJ45
· Small, compact footprint of 71 mm x 26 mm x 94 mm (W x H x D) with screw holes for mounting capabilities
· Hosts a triangular pattern of screw holes to match sponsor’s equipment at 306.25 mm2
· Conforms to FCC emissions standards
