About this file
This is a PowerPoint presentation showing the design concept for a military memorial to be constructed at Quad D of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, near Buildings 452 and 449. The memorial design features three black granite walls arranged in a W-shape on a 29' x 3' x 8" concrete platform, with the middle wall being taller to accommodate a rock feature. The design includes branch insignias on four corners and will display unit history, branch insignias, and information about campaigns and fallen soldiers. The memorial will be surrounded by 18 inches of landscaping rocks and will be positioned at a 45-degree angle facing the unit headquarters building at coordinates 21.491689, -158.052159.
The presentation indicates that the 29th Brigade Engineer Battalion (BEB) will contract a vendor to build the granite slabs, while 29th BEB soldiers will perform the remaining work including excavation, grading, concrete slab placement, granite slab installation, and decorative landscaping. The document includes sample text for historical information about the 29th Engineer Regiment and a fallen soldier named Yari Mokri, which will be inscribed on the memorial. Photos of a similar existing memorial in the 3 BDE Quad are included for reference.
