Building Leaders for Cuban Civil Society – Questions and Answers re: Notice of Funding Opportunity SFOP0007037

Question:

Will the grant support on-island recruitment activities conducted by a partner university located in the third country?

Answer:

Yes, this is permissible.

Question:

Please can you confirm if the due date is set, or if there is any possibility for change due to the impact of COVID-19? Does my organization have a chance to win this award?

Answer:

Unfortunately the deadline is set. All applications must be received by the due date on the NOFO. All technically-eligible applications will be considered by an impartial panel.

Question:

Can implementers conduct follow-on activities and provide additional support after the conclusion of initial cohort activities and past the first year?

Answer:

Yes. The cohort itself should be no longer than one year. The follow-on and follow-up with participants should be as necessary throughout the life of the project to ensure success.

Question:

Are the activities listed under “site visits/observation/workshops” also expected to take place during that month? Can those activities take place during a second month in the host country? Can participants stay in the host country for longer than one month to participate in the “site visits/observation/workshops” activities? Is there a maximum amount of time the participants should be off-island?

Answer:

The length of the orientation should not be longer than one month. The applicant should propose whatever timeline it thinks necessary for a successful program. As stated in the NOFO, the program should be ideally three to six months off-island, but no longer than one year.

Question:

Is there a minimum number or preferred number of cohorts required?

Answer:

The applicant should propose whatever organization of cohorts it thinks necessary for successful execution of the program for the targeted number of participants.
