About this file
This is Addendum One to RFP #2609 issued by Kenosha County, Wisconsin for building repairs and upgrades to the Kemper Center Chapel. The addendum provides clarifications and answers to contractor questions regarding project scope and specifications. Key clarifications include that the contractor must relocate existing furnishings (piano, baptismal font, sofas, chairs, and tables) as part of the work; the altar carpet must be saved and reinstalled; attic stock materials in the basement may be used if they meet restoration specifications with written submittal approval; decorative trim should match the building's architecture without specific material requirements; the chapel entry door (100.1) should achieve a weather-tight seal preferably through weather stripping alone rather than a threshold to minimize tripping hazards; and the existing HVAC system will remain operational to maintain climate control appropriate for finish materials. The addendum also addresses a decorative gate at the chapel entry (room 100) which will remain in the open position and is never closed, and confirms that crown molding specifications should follow architectural standards for decorative trim matching the building's character.
The addendum was dated March 18, 2026, which falls after the mandatory pre-bid conference scheduled for March 11, 2026, and before the bid submission deadline of March 25, 2026 at 1:00 PM. No pricing information, set-asides, incumbent vendor designations, or funding sources are addressed in this addendum document. The clarifications provided are intended to ensure all bidders have consistent understanding of project requirements and specifications for submission of responsive bids.

Yes.
Questions and Answers:
Q. Will the owner have furnishings removed before start of work? (Piano, baptismal, sofas, chairs, tables)
A. No, these items will need to be relocated by the awarded Contractor as part of the work.
Q. What is the intention with the with the Carpet that is tacked down for the alter and hallway runners?
A. The alter carpet is to be saved, and reinstalled.
Q. At chapel entry room 100 note 20 calls for a gate rest and stop. Is the gate to be decorative and left(secured)in the open position? If gate is closed, does the gate rest/stop become a hazard at its proposed installed location?
A. The gate is rested in the open position, it is never closed.
Q. There appears to be some attic stock in the basement/may this material be used if needed? (mainly flooring, misc repairs)
A. Yes, this material can be used if it fits the specifications for the restoration. Any request to use existing material should be put in writing, in a submittal to the Construction Administration team.
Q. Architectural note 4 says to add molding wide enough to cover tape lighting.
Electrical note A says Crown Molding. Is there a specific trim you are looking for? (dimensional stock, decorative) (stained or painted)
A. Decorative trim should be used to match the architecture of the building. No specific material or trim is preferred.
Q. Door 100.1 chapel entry. Currently has no threshold. There appears to already be a difference in height stepping into the entryway. Would a threshold create a greater hazard for tripping?
A. The goal is to have a weather tight seal in this doorway. If that can be achieved with weather stripping only and no threshold, that would be preferred.
