The department also provides engineering, surveying, project management, construction management, and technical support services for capital improvement projects and other County initiatives.

To support its mission, the Office of the County Engineer relies on a secure, reliable, and resilient communications network that enables connectivity between County facilities, field operations, traffic management systems, public safety infrastructure, and other critical technologies. Fiber optic communication systems serve as the backbone of this network by providing high-speed data transmission and supporting essential County operations. Ongoing preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, repairs, upgrades, and system expansions are necessary to maintain system reliability, minimize service interruptions, and ensure the communications infrastructure continues to meet the County's current and future operational needs.
