About this file
This is an AFMC Form 158 Packaging Requirements document for federal contract FD20302601073-00 (Version 2), establishing packaging and marking standards for two items (NSNs 2840013298621NZ and 2840DTH260110NZ).
The document mandates compliance with MIL-STD-129 Revision R and MIL-STD-2073-1 Revision E for all packaging, shipping, and storage activities. Wood packaging material (WPM) requirements are critical and include specifications that all wooden lumber, pallets, and containers must be constructed from debarked wood treated with heat at 56 degrees Centigrade (133 degrees Fahrenheit) for 30 minutes minimum to prevent invasive species such as pinewood nematode. Certification and marking must be provided by an accredited agency recognized by the American Lumber Standards Committee (ALSC) in accordance with International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM No. 15). The packaging requirement is classified as "MIL Long Line Packaging" at Preservation Level MIL and Packaging Level B. Unit pack specifications include dimensions of 16.5 x 16.5 x 4.0 inches with a weight of 4.50 pounds and cube of 0.630. Shipping containers must meet MIL-STD-129 marking criteria and include additional markings such as unit serial numbers, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) names, and OEM model numbers as specified on the AFMC Form 158. The document was signed by Richard R. Davis, Packaging Specialist with the 406 SCMS/GULAA organization, on 09 MAR 2026.
