About this file
This document is a Single Source Justification (Simplified Acquisition) for the procurement of Vector Network Analyzer Extenders (VNAx). The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL/RIKO) intends to negotiate a sole-source contract with Virginia Diodes, Inc. (VDI) to fulfill the requirement. The total estimated contract value is redacted, but the contract is for a new Firm Fixed Price (FFP) procurement.
VDI is determined to be the sole-source provider because they are the only known vendor commercially offering Vector Network Analyzer frequency extender modules that simultaneously meet all of the government's technical requirements. Specifically, VDI's VNA frequency extender modules have a mechanical variable attenuator, are capable of detecting reflected signal paths with 120 dB of dynamic range, and are critical for detecting wireless signals. A Notice of Proposed Contract Action (NOCA) was posted on SAM.gov between May 5-20, 2025, with no responses received, suggesting no other companies are interested or capable of fulfilling the government's requirements.
