About this file
This is a Request for Quotation (RFQ) issued by the California Department of State Hospitals at its Atascadero facility for the procurement of canned fruit products. The solicitation, numbered #25IR033, requests bids for five canned fruit items: 784 cases of unsweetened applesauce, 672 cases of diced peaches, 784 cases of diced pears, 896 cases of pineapple tidbits, and 1,008 cases of fruit cocktail containing peaches, pears, grapes, pineapple, and cherries. All fruit products must be canned in industry-standard #10 cans with six cans per case and must be shelf-stable with a manufacturer shelf life of three years and good quality for at least six months past delivery. Bids are due January 1, 2026, by 3:00 PM PST, with evaluation occurring on January 2, 2026. The contract will be awarded to the lowest cost vendor and will run from January 1, 2026, through June 30, 2026, with potential quantity adjustments of up to 15 percent. Delivery is to occur at the Atascadero facility receiving dock, which operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, excluding holidays.
Pricing must exclude tax, which will be added separately, and bidders may select from three shipping options: no shipping fee, shipping only, or shipping and handling. The solicitation is classified as non-IT and is evaluated using a competitive advertised method. A Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) waiver is in place, but an incentive of 3 to 5 percent is offered to bidders providing DVBE participation. Small business preference is available, and recycled products are required to the maximum extent economically feasible, with DSH reserving the right to award based on recycled content if costs do not exceed 10 percent above non-recycled products. Bidders must submit required forms including the Darfur Contracting Act Certification, Payee Data Record (STD204), Bidders Declaration Form (GSPD-05-106), DVBE Declarations Form (STD843), Recycled Content Certification Form (CalRecycle074), and the Voluntary Statistical Data Sheet (VSDS). All fruit must be canned in water, its own juice, or unsweetened fruit juice with no added sugar or artificial sweeteners. Contact for procurement inquiries is Isaiah Rodriguez at 805-468-2591 or isaiah.rodriguez@dsh.ca.gov.
