About this file

This is an Addendum document issued by Wright Hunter Technology Advisors for the Northwest Elementary School structured cabling project in Howell Public Schools, located in Royal Oak, Michigan. The project (25-NWES-SCS-01) involves the installation of structured cabling infrastructure, including UTP cable, fiber-optic components, patch panels, racks, conduits, cable support hardware (J-hooks), and related termination components. The addendum extends the bid due date to March 19, 2026, and provides twenty-three clarifications addressing contractor responsibilities, material specifications, approved manufacturers, and installation requirements. Key clarifications establish that the structured cabling contractor is not responsible for installing owner-furnished equipment such as cameras and wireless access points; that all conduit pathways, sleeves, and penetrations are provided by the electrical contractor; and that the structured cabling vendor is responsible for cable support hardware (J-hooks preferred) between MDF/IDF locations and data endpoints.

The addendum confirms that this is not a prevailing wage project and provides specification approvals for various manufacturers including ICC for racks and patch panels, Genesis for UTP cable, and Prysmian GenSPEED 6 MAX for outdoor plant cable. Notable clarifications indicate that yellow cable is not acceptable as a substitute for green security-camera cable (though black is acceptable for outdoor cable), that 23 AWG patch cables are acceptable for station-end applications only, and that contractors shall deliver all patch cords to the owner for installation. The document also establishes that stainless steel faceplates and surface-mount backboxes for wireless access points and cameras are the structured cabling contractor's responsibility, while FIS is not an approved manufacturer for fiber-optic enclosures and related components.
