IBM Business Workflow Enterprise software was chosen as the platform to operate the NED core services by providing a business process management solution that automates NIH onboarding and offboarding processes and the authorizing of services such as badges, logical accounts, email accounts, etc. to the NIH community. Continued use of the IBM Business Workflow Enterprise software application will guarantee the timely technical support required to keep the NED operating, as well as the numerous business processes that rely on NED data. It will also permit existing business processes to continue unabated, and to extend NED support for other business processes. IBM Business Workflow Enterprise software is the only known product that can deliver all of the functionalities required by the NED in a software solution.

For the reasons stated above, currently, only the brands listed, and no other brands or services, will satisfy agency requirements for commonality, interchangeability, and interoperability. Market Research indicates other companies’ similar products are lacking the particular features, do not meet, or cannot be modified to meet the agency’s needs. Until it is fiscally justified to change the entire infrastructure, the current brands will continue to be utilized.
