Questions

Typically the MD will be the one to review SOP, QC, QA topics, so what is the role med tech that will accompany the med director on quarterly visits? What are the expected outcomes of the Med Tech engagement for the hospitals and for the clinics?

The Medical Technologist acts as the consultant to each of the laboratories to include the items listed below:

The Consultant Medical Technologist shall provide education and assistance to laboratory staff “on-site” at least quarterly. The Contractor shall provide professional consultation to the various hospital committees, as may be requested by the respective Standing Hospital/Clinic Committee Chairperson in implementing compliance with the Joint Commission and College of American Pathology Accreditation Standards.

Does each location have RPMS and is the expectation to be interfaced at each location?

YES, each site does have RPMS and is expecting to be interfaced.

Good day, I hope all is well. I’m writing regarding the REFERENCE LABORATORY AND PATHOLOGY TESTING SERVICES-OKLAHOMA AREA. I was curious if this was a follow-on requirement. If so, would it be possible for you to provide the incumbent information (we need the contract number and contractor).

Yes, Regional Medical Laboratory, contract no. HHSI24620150016I.

Will a utilization breakdown of the clinical, cytology and anatomic pathology testing be provided by location. We are especially interested in learning more about the anatomic pathology activity at each location.

Yes, additional spreadsheet will be provided on attachment to solicitation.

Will IHS be adding COVID PCR and/or COVID IgG Antibody testing to the utilization for the bid?

Yes, we will have both COVID and COVID Antibody testing and estimates added as an attachment to solicitation.

Must the pathologist be licensed in Kansas to be Medical Director at Haskell in Kansas or will licensure for any state work since this is a federal bid?

No, any state or US territory.

The Consultant Medical Technologist shall provide education and assistance to laboratory staff “on-site” at least quarterly. Would you describe the assistance as service related to reference work or more consulting on internal lab processes like inspection readiness and SOP review?

More so the later, Inspection readiness and SOP review and a resource for reference related work.

The Contractor shall provide professional consultation to the various hospital committees, as may be requested by the respective Standing Hospital/Clinic Committee Chairperson in implementing compliance with the Joint Commission and College of American Pathology Accreditation Standards.

Typically, this is the role of the Medical Director. Do you see the consultant Med tech going before hospital committees?

Medical Director would provide the professional consultation services needed for the various committees. I do not see the Medical Technologist/consultant going before hospital committees
