Finance
SECTION 1: BACKGROUND
In the past, the City has used various auto body vendors in the community to repair damaged City vehicles. This required City staff driving around to various vendors to obtain a minimum of three bids before repairs could be performed. The City did not have a policy or standardized repair criteria to compare the competitive bids.
The City has determined that it can obtain better pricing and better service for vehicle body and paint repairs by standardizing the repair criteria and requesting competitive quotes from a pool of pre-selected Service Providers when a repair is needed. This RFP will be used to select that pool of Service Providers.
The City’s fleet consists of a diverse makeup of over 480 passenger, light and heavy duty vehicles for our various departments; Police, Fire, Public Works, Community Development, and support departments.
SECTION 2: SCOPE OF REQUESTED SERVICES
The City has estimated that approximately $150,000 will be spent in automotive body work during each year of the contract. This figure is only an estimate and is not a binding guarantee of the work to be done under these contracts. Actual requirements may be more or less than the amounts estimated.
