About this file
This document is a question and answer (Q&A) related to a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Cable Relocation issued by Houston County, Georgia. The RFP seeks to relocate a mixture of CAT6 and CAT6A network drops within various facilities, with the existing cabling required to meet 10G standards if CAT6A or 1G standards if CAT6. Ortonics is the preferred brand for jacks, which should be terminated using the ANSI/TIA-568B wiring scheme. Existing faceplates are to be relabeled, and existing cable management infrastructure should be reused where possible. No lift equipment is required, and all cable relocations will be within the same room, with a maximum distance of 20 feet from the current location.
Pricing and funding details are not provided in the Q&A, but the RFP is for a state and local contract opportunity in Georgia's Houston County. There are no indications of any set-asides or incumbents, and the contract term and renewal options are not specified.

24-038 CABLE RELOCATION
QUESTION & ANSWER
1. 2.2.6 Ortronics is specifically mentioned. Is Panduit an acceptable alternative?
Answer: Ortonics is the preferred brand.
1. Is the existing cabling all CAT6A? A portion of the RFP reference CAT6A standards and jacks, but the SOW states CAT6 patch cable to be provided. If the existing cable is not CAT6A, CAT6A jacks can't be used due to standards requirements.
Answer: There is a mixture of CAT6 and CAT6A drops that will be relocated. The majority of the drops are CAT6. The patch cable should match the designated drop category.
1. 2.1.6 states that cables must meet 10G standards. This is not possible if the cables are over length for the standard. How does this need to be addressed?
Answer: If CAT6A, the spec should be 10G at maximum 100m. If CAT6, the spec should be 1G at maximum 100m.
1. Is it expected that the existing faceplate where the cable drop is removed will need to be relabeled accordingly?
Answer: Yes, the existing faceplat should be relabled and a blank installed if needed.
1. Clarification needed on this statement: "Jacks will be terminated according to the ANSI/TIA-568B wiring scheme and utilize industry standard 110 insulation displacement contact (IDC) connectors."
Answer: 568B has orange/ white-orange pair on pins 1, 2 instead of 3,6 like in 568A.
6. Will a lift of any type be required for this/these projects? – Answer: No
| 7. Are electronic prints available, marking the MDF/IDFs of the schools and the location of | the drops to be ran for more precise cable footages | ||
| Answer: All cables that will be relocated in the same room that they are installed | currently. | Drops will be pulled above grid and relocated maximum 20 feet from | current location. |
| 8. Are we to reuse the wire managers, cable trays and j-hooks already in place, from the | abated cable or are new wire management required? | ||
| Answer: When possible use existing material to suspend cables above grid. If not | in place appropriate hardware should be installed to suspend cable. |
