Irradiation – Thermal and fast neutron irradiation Rate of per hour for a total of sixteen (16) hours.

POP is July 1 - Sept. 30, 2023 - .

It is a user facility with no rights to any data collected.

Currently, there is no MIL-Standard neutron single event effect (nSEE) test requirement for microelectronics designed for strategic missions.

Therefore, there are no firm technical requirements for a particular MIL-Standard or program, but we That said, we have

The Phoenix Neutron Imagining Center provides a unique spectrum of neutron that has no similar counterpart. It provides a unique spectrum of fast neutrons and ready capability for thermal neutrons which are crucial to understanding neutron single event effects on modern . , The capability is so unique that it is the only source to provide a that matches the extent of the that is required for DoD programs. Furthermore, it is the highest intensity source within the neutron energies of interest. The additional thermal neutron capability is unique to allow experimentation at the same facility.

To test at another source would cause delay to the program as there would need to be a facility set up to do so. This requirement must in order to meet program requirements and no other source can accommodate the requirement.

Other non-technical requirements are:

1) Scheduling (PNIC has time this August & September

2) Setup flexibility (PNIC allowing 2 hours at fast neutron area and 2 hours at thermal neutron area meets our setup requirements)

3) Cost (PNIC is competitive to other similar (but not equal facilities) and fits budgetary needs)

4) Waste handling (PNIC will hold irradiated parts long enough to cool and return)
