Background The United States Department of Agriculture, Agriculture Research Service, National Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment, located in Ames, Iowa was constructed in 1986 and performs research addressing critical problems in agriculture and watershed management.
Scope The requirement for performing monthly service and maintenance of the building water softener and Hellenbrand TN-2-210 reverse osmosis filtration system.
Tasks
· Monthly performance check on entire system
· Annual cleaning and sanitation of reverse osmosis system
· Bi-annual Carbon ReBeds (4 tanks every 6 months)
· Monthly replacement of (4) 5 micron reverse osmosis pre-filters
· Annual replacement of (1) .2 micron hydrophobic vent filters
· Annual replacement of (6) .8 micron ultraviolet pre-filters
· Annual replacement of (6) .2 micron final filters
· Mixbed DI Regenerations (4 tanks every 3 months)
· Annual replacement of (8) ultraviolet lamps
· Supply softener salt (as needed)
Delivery Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, supplies, transportation, utilities, supervision, bonds insurance, permits and incidentals to complete contracted work. Contractor shall coordinate all work activities with the USDA site point of contact prior to beginning any work. All work scheduled in a manner such that on-going research is not impacted negatively.
The work shall be completed during normal business hours of 8:00am – 4:30pm during a normal Monday through Friday work week, excluding federal holidays.
Government-Furnished Property None Security Requirements
The names of contractor employees will be given to the reception’s desk to verify employee requesting access to the site.
NLAE is a secure facility. The contractor shall follow the following requirements:
· Contractor personnel shall sign in and sign out every time they enter or exit the facility.
· Contractor personnel shall present a valid photo government-issued ID (driver’s license or equivalent) every time they enter the site.
· Contractor personnel will be supplied a NLAE badge that must be displayed at all times while on site.
· Contractor personnel shall return the NLAE badges every time they leave.
Safety Considerations The contractor is responsible for contractor personnel safety and is required to abide by all applicable OHSA, Local State and Federal safety laws and regulations.
