Text version

Endturn assemblies may contain live rounds, which will fall out when endturn assemblies are removed. Provisions must be made to catch rounds when endturn assemblies are removed. Failure to comply could result in damage to, or destruction of, equipment or loss of mission effectiveness.

NOTE

Endturn assemblies can be removed to identify the exact location of jam(s). Inspect all 3 chain ladder assembly sections to identify where jam is located.

l. Manually extract rounds from unaffected chain ladder assemblies by pulling chain ladder assembly through drive assembly partition opening while removing loose rounds.

NOTE

It may be necessary to remove endturn(s) to facilitate identifying the location of the jammed rounds.

m. Remove 180 degree endturn assemblies (WP 009 00, Figure 2, 6) as needed to identify jammed round location.

n. Once jam is identified, reinstall 180 degree endturn assemblies (WP 009 00, Figure 2, 6) to enable round extraction.

In the event rounds are unsafe, stop work and notify Explosives Ordinance Disposal (EOD). Failure to comply could result in injury to, or death of, personnel or long term health hazards.

o. Remove remainder of chain and jammed rounds.

p. Inspect storage container assembly in accordance with WP 006 00, Paragraph 3.13.

7 RECHARGING OF GAS CYLINDERS.

Charging operations involve use of equipment generating air pressure to 3000 PSI. Observe all applicable safety precautions governing the use of high pressure air. Failure to follow these instructions could result in personnel injury or loss of life or damage to equipment.

When gas cylinder pressure gauge (Figure 4, 6) indicates less than 600 PSI with the control shut-off valve (11) turned on, it is recommended that the gas cylinders (5) be recharged in the following manner:

NOTE

• Charging operations require use of an air compressor such has MC-11 or equivalent.

• Operation of the charging equipment is covered in its applicable Technical Order.

• Single cylinders can be charged.

a. Open shut-off valve (10) to drain any accumulated moisture in the air lines.

b. Close shut-off valve (10) and remove dust cap (16) from straight adapter (17). Attach charging hose from air compres-sor to straight adapter (17).
