About this file
This Performance Work Statement (PWS) outlines a contract for titanium anode replating services for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP). The BEP requires a contractor to uniformly replate 27 titanium mesh anodes with 125 µm thick platinum coating, which are used in the intaglio platemaking process for currency manufacturing. The replating service will be performed at the contractor's facility, with anodes to be returned to the BEP upon completion, and will include providing a certificate of analysis verifying platinum composition and thickness.
The contract has a 12-month period of performance from the contract award date, with delivery to the BEP facility located at 14th and C Streets, SW in Washington, D.C. The solicitation emphasizes strict security requirements, including background investigations for contractor personnel, mandatory identification badges, and confidentiality protocols. The primary objective is to extend the operational lifespan of the anodes through replating, which is deemed more cost-effective and sustainable than purchasing new anode assemblies. Contractors must comply with BEP's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations and document requirements.

SECTION II: Purpose
2.1 Product, Service or Outcome Needed.
The BEP requires services to replate existing titanium anodes with platinum to ensure uniform chrome plating, maintain high process efficiency and yield, and extend the operational lifespan of the anodes. Replating anodes is a more cost-effective and sustainable alternative than the procurement of new anode assemblies.
2.2 Scope of the Product, Service, or Outcome.

SECTION III: Technical Requirements/Tasks/Outcomes
3.1 The Contractor shall uniformly replate 27 titanium mesh anodes with platinum 125 µm thick. The anode size the BEP will provide will be 2.375” x 45.25” TI mesh anodes.
3.2 The Contractor shall provide a certificate of analysis (COA) verifying that platinum has been replated onto the titanium anodes. The COA shall include information regarding composition and thickness.
3.3 Deliverables:
The Contractor shall deliver 27 titanium anodes replated with platinum accompanied with a COA.
3.4 Special Delivery Instructions. Not applicable.
3.5 Performance/ Delivery Period. The period of performance is 12 months from the contract award.
