About this file
This document is a set of vendor questions related to a federal contract opportunity for Centralized Verification Counting Machines issued by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), a civilian agency of the Department of the Treasury.
The BEP is seeking to replace its current old equipment with brand new Centralized Verification Counting Machines that have greater speed, capacity and accuracy. The new equipment must count currency straps and notes while keeping the currency bands in place, and have a raised LED counter screen for better visibility. The BEP is not interested in purchasing any modified equipment, and is looking for the latest state-of-the-art technology to meet its mission. The related pre-solicitation notice describes the requirements in more detail, including the applicable NAICS code, response instructions, and key dates. No solicitation documents exist at this time, and the government is conducting market research to identify qualified sources.

Centralized Verification Counting Machine Vendor Questions Questions:
1. The specification is slightly different from the AER-870 units we have furnished in the past, and also different for the Glory – GND 710 units that we quoted to you late 2023. In order to get the right equipment sourced, can you let us know which equipment is the basis of design for the Currency Counters? We want to make sure you get what you want.
2. US Paper Counters manufactures a smaller sheet counter that can be adapted to more easily count banded currency. It is dimensionally larger than the specification calls out and uses a different technology than the AER and Glory units. It uses the same technology that we use on the large sheet counters? However, we can readily outfit it with a large LED display. Would BEP be interested in more specific information on this equipment as an alternative to the Currency Counters as specified in the Notice?
Answer:
We are currently looking to replace the current old equipment with brand new equipment which has greater speed, capacity and accuracy. This new equipment still counts in the same fashion as the old units which count the currency straps and notes while the bands are to stay in place. We also need the raised led counter screen for better visibility while these units are in operation. We do not wish to purchase any modified equipment to reach our goal of meeting our mission using the latest state of the art technology.
